Condor 2 Soaring Simulator (known as Condor 2) is a glider (aka. sailplane) (Wikipedia) simulator made by a small group of glider enthusiasts working part-time in Slovenia. It was released in February 2018. [1]
We designed Condor to give pilots the complete experience of soaring on their PC. The key to this experience is the feeling of immersion in the environment. Precise aerodynamics and weather physics drive the ongoing development. The Condor simulator with state of the art graphics, real time control feedback, and cockpit sounds immerses you, the pilot, in the experience and is the closest you can come to flying a glider without ever leaving the ground.
The Greater Houston Soaring Association is a non-profit, 501(c)(3) corporation dedicated to educating the public and its members about the sport of soaring. We offer flight instruction for private pilot - glider, commercial pilot - glider, and certified flight instructor - glider.
To avoid any misconception: Condor alone is not a substitute for real-life flight training. But I have absolutely no doubt, that it has saved me dozens of real tows and dramatically accelerated my learning curve as a soaring pilot.
As I tried to point out, Condor is a fantastic tool to help anyone (from beginner to advanced pilot) hone their skills and become better at real soaring. It is remarkably realistic and almost all the skills learned with Condor translate directly into the real world. That said, it is of course a simulator, and as such it has certain limitations that are useful to contemplate and understand.
These limitations are real. You should understand them but they should in no way deter you from using Condor not just as a game, but as a tool to practice various flying techniques in preparation for real soaring.
I saw your post on another thread recommending Condor2. Whilst it has its shortcomings ......... graphics performance isn't as well developed compared to X-plane and there is a bit less information than is available for X-plane regarding the ins and outs , it is nevertheless a very nice implementation for soaring enthusiasts . I've just finished the 1st Task on a beautiful summers day and it was exhilerating . The concentration required to center thermals , plan strategy and so forth keep the heart racing , the mind focused , and the nerves rattled.
Join members of the Proving Grounds team on Sunday nights (8:30EST) for a friendly tour through various Proving Grounds installations across America organized through a Condor Club soaring competition.
The bottom line is, using Condor as a task flying / XC soaring training tool can be powerful to help novice time building glider pilots become soaring pilots. Since this is also the goal of the Proving Grounds, we will be organizing flights to actively support pilots looking to become more adept at task flying through a Condor competition as we tour across America flying tasks at sites with Proving Grounds installations and Condor Scenery.
This PC flight sim has given me much pleasure over the years. It is an old sim which has been updated regularly by pretty serious glider pilots. The beauty of this sim is that it does not require a mainframe PC to run it and the flight modelling is very well done. So if any of you chaps/ladies fancy having a go at soaring over the Alps/anywhere in the world, off or online, check out Condor flight sim:
The good news is that Condor 2 soaring simulator does not require a mega pc to run it. I would check the system requirements of this sim on there website and compare it to yours. The other sims like IL2/Flying circus/Cliffs of Dover require a bit more oomph...
The online Lessons are also available as add-ons to the Condor 2 Soaring Simulator Flight School. They provide a full pre-solo curriculum of realistic briefings and flight exercises, so you can learn and practise your glider flying skills on the simulator at any time.

I have seen favorable mention of the original Aerofly, and it seems to me like this may be a great area for Aerofly FS 2 development to target. From the looks of things with Condor's continuing popularity, even in spite of the dated graphics, some well-modeled soaring in Aerofly FS 2 might bring in quite a few new virtual pilots.
Still, at the moment I use the 29 for having fun in AFS2, with the Oculus. Why? Same reason as you. It's damn pretty. Condorsim 2 is coming soon (they promised ) That might change things, but seeing the developers of condor are 2 guys with regular jobs (AFAIK), by the time they release it - it's probably already aged.
in real life I'm also a glider pilot and would like to see Aerofly becoming a good platform for glider pilots, too. The thing is, there is probably a reason why the other soaring simulators are a bit aged and that probably has to do with the small community that would buy such a sim. So from a financial point of view there just isn't enough demand which sale numbers also indicate. Sure there are a few thousand people who would love to soar in a new sim but there are so many more people that want airliners. (If they knew what they were missing...)
Just Soaring Glider Sim Pro Flight Simulator is what you need to get off the ground (so to speak) with a simulator system built from the ground up for a soaring pilot. With features you'll only find in a glider and only in our Glider Sim Rig, you will enjoy a realistic a soaring experience even while on the ground!
Condor: The Complete Soaring Simulator is designed to recreate the ultimate experience of competition soaring on your PC. A lot of attention was put in to create an environment which would create an immersion of real competition flying. This means that the aerodynamics and weather physics were in focus of the development. The result is amazingly real feel of flight in all flight regimes and weather conditions which challenges a real soaring pilot on a competition day.
Do you want to buy a Condor Soaring Simulator, additional gliders or very realistic sceneries for Condor? We are recommending our friendly e-shop www.condorworld.eu. They offer to their customers also all patches and installation instructions for download. They also provide support on installing the simulator.
Like many others, I have been seeking new and fun things to do during a pandemic. I decided on the new Microsoft Flight Simulator 2020, but the Condor 2 Soaring Simulator is my intermediate step. I am certified as a pilot, including gliders, but I have not flown for many years because of the expense. These simulators will allow me to join much of the fun and to greatly increase my skills, while semi-quarantined.
But soaring for longer distances requires finding someplace en-route where the air is rising to restore lost altitude. Therefore, the progress of a cross-country glider trip looks like the picture on the right.
Are you looking for a really fun thing and an affordable thing to do during the COVID crisis? A capable PC, plus a joystick, this soaring simulator has a lot to offer. Even if you never flew before, the simulator can help you to learn, and learning to fly a glider keeps you much closer to physics than flying an airplane.
Dick Mills is a retired analytical power engineer. Power plant training simulators, power system analysis software, fault-tree analysis, nuclear fuel management, process optimization, power grid operations, and the integration of energy markets into operation software, were his fields. All those things were analytical. None of them were hands-on.
Condor was brought to life by two people from Slovenia, known as "Team Condor": Uros Bergant and Gregor Rozman. They were not satisfied with consumer flight simulation at the time and decided to create their own simulator.
Additionally it contains 15 "flight school" missions which are meant to introduce beginners or advanced pilots to soaring, however it contains an easy-to-use task creator to build flight plans for competitive races, too.

There are basic lessons that are based at Portmoak airfield, for practising general handling, launching, circuits, ridge soaring etc, and there are also some pre-defined cross country tasks around Scotland's glorious scenery. 2b1af7f3a8
