Beach Head 2000 is a first-person shooter game developed by Digital Fusion. It was originally released by WizardWorks for Microsoft Windows and MacSoft for Mac OS as a "value-priced" release. A loose remake of the 1983 computer game Beach Head, it shared a similar premise, as players defend a beach against attack by utilizing a variety of weapons. A version of the game was also produced for video arcades by Tsunami Visual Technologies, available in various motion simulation cabinets[1] and Digital Fusion continues to sell the Windows version as a download via its website.
Players take the role of the sole gunner defending a beach against invading enemy soldiers, tanks, helicopters and other military attack vehicles. The player utilizes a variety of weapons, including a gun turret with a machine gun, howitzer cannon and guided surface-to-air missiles. A handgun is available as a final means of defense. The mouse is used to aim. Additional ammo and health are available by shooting packages dropped with parachutes.[2] Missions end when all enemies are defeated, each mission changes the spawn point of enemies on the beach. There are infinite missions and the game has no ending.[3]
The game was met with mostly negative reviews, with much of the criticism centered around its gameplay. GameSpot said "The game grows old quickly, as taking out the stream of enemies in each level becomes repetitive."[2] A review in Allgame said that "the initial appeal of Beach Head 2000's single view wears off very quickly" and compared it unfavorably to the original Beach Head.[3] Inside Mac Games commented that the game was not worth the relatively low price, even among a limited selection of Mac OS games.[7] However, IGN had a more positive reaction to the game, comparing it to Missile Command and calling it "strangely addicting."[6]
Digital Fusion produced several sequels, Beach Head 2002,[8] Beach Head Desert War[9] and Baghdad Central Desert Gunner.[10] Global VR would take over the license from Tsunami and produce arcade versions of the first three games in the series.[11][12]

Developed by Digital Fusion, Beach Head 2002 is based on an early arcade game concept, the shooting gallery. Beach Head 2002 is updated, of course, for more modern tastes. This game puts you inside a command post that you must defend from enemy invasion. The longer you hold on to your post and the more enemies you defeat, the higher score you get.
This is a free game available on steam that is designed for gamers to practice their mouse skills. It features a series of challenges with moving targets that you need to track with the crosshairs . Really simple and a great place to start.
This is by far the greatest game ever for playing with hand wheels. It is pure frantic violence, and will teach you to operate under pressure in no time at all. You have to fight of waves of terrorists from a static machine-gun turret.
The aim of the game is to survive as long as possible, and you can only progress to the next level once you've killed a certain amount of terrorists and vehicles. You level up by getting more kills, and this can earn you upgrades like infinite ammo and explosive rounds. However it doesn't get any easier once you get these perks, because the enemy just comes thicker and faster.
This is the best game for testing your technical skills. The object of the game is to drag a small white dot around a simple course, which is much harder than it sounds. The trouble is, this game was developed to be played with either a gamepad or regular mouse. Playing with hand wheels is significantly harder, so progressing through the game is virtually impossible. That doesn't stop it being completely addictive.
To progress through each stage you need a certain amount of stars. It's relatively easy to complete each level, but you then have to go back and do them in a certain time to get enough stars. This requires a lot of practice, time and muscle memory. It's a great game for teaching hand discipline, because it's as much about stopping the wheel in the right place as it is about moving the wheels in sync. It's also fantastic for practicing diagonals, curves and split-second timing.
At the time of writing I'm stuck with 97 stars and can't progress beyond that. Maximum respect for the first person who gets 100 stars and l makes it to the next level, and if anyone ever completes this game with hand wheels they get bragging rights for life!
Beach Head 2020 is a similar style game to IS Defense, with the added bonus that is available on Mac as well. The action itself is not as frantic as IS Defense, but it does come with a variety of aircraft that need shooting down. This is great fun on the wheels, and makes you feel like an anti-aircraft gunner, which is what hand wheels were originally designed for.
You need to pick up health crates and ammo, but these are just dropped at random intervals rather than having the call them in. Apparently this game is also available in VR, and features multi-player options, but we have yet to try this out.
You start out as a kitten, as you eat things you grow, and as you grow you can eat bigger things. Eventually you progress to eating people, cars and entire city blocks. You become different characters throughout the game, each with their own quirks.
You play a hole in the ground, which you steer around and consume things. That's about it. Don't overthink it. You sometimes have to consume things in a certain order, that's about as complex as it gets. The soundtrack is fun and the characters are amusing. This is probably the most casual game on the list.
Playing this game is a bit harder than just plug-and-play. It's designed to play with a joystick, but to play it with a mouse you have to click and drag the spaceship in the direction of the cursor. This works with a regular mouse, but with Rexy wheels is doesn't work at all. Therefore you need to download a program called ReWASD to make it work.
ReWASD is a gamepad emulator that enables you to remap a mouse and fool the computer into thinking its a gamepad. It takes a little while to get your head around, and I will be posting some tutorials coming up. BEACHHEAD - IT'S NOT JUST A GAME, IT'S THE FUTURE OF REALITY. 20 years ago, BEACHHEAD 2000 changed the gaming paradigm by bringing a new gaming experience to life. 20 years later, the original game creators are ready to do it again.
Play this amazing game brought to you by Classic Reload. Released in 1986, Beach Head 2 features the player pursuing the dictator in several ways. Given the four levels in the game, in the first level, the player deploys soldiers with a wall to cover up from the dictator's gun. In the second level, the player rescues the prisoners by clearing the deadly obstacles with a gun. In the third level, the aim is to escape the dictator's fortress with the prisoners using a chopper and finally face off the dictator. Play it now!
Once again, you somehow get stuck as the lone gunman stance on a beach that is under assault. Probably something to do with getting caught "talking" to the general's daughter. Sadly, you will need to defend the one strip of beach that vehicles can land on with just your 30mm gun, your anti tank (AT) gun, some missiles, and if you run out of all of your ammo, a handgun. Thankfully some nice officer with a soft spot in his heart for the lone man against overwhelming odds has seen fit to send a cargo ship to you to drop off medical supplies and more ammo. That really is it though. There really isn't all that much to this game.
The actual control took a little bit of time to get used to, but it got to feel pretty smooth after I had played the game for a while. Toggling between weapons is quick and easy as it should be as there are only three selectable guns and your missiles are fired with the m key while in any of the gun modes. The biggest problem that I had with the game had to do with targeting flying objects. Did I say targeting? I shouldn't have. You basically point yourself towards the plane you want to shoot down and the missiles seek it out. I found after playing for a while that some of the time, the missiles seem to have a mind of their own and fly by the target you wanted to hit something far off in the distance. There doesn't really seem to be any rhyme or reason for that to happen which got to be very annoying. 2b1af7f3a8
